Team messaging and collaboration platform used by millions of organizations for real-time communication and workflow automation. Roiva sends notifications to a Slack channel when initiative stages change and when value entries move through the review workflow.
What gets synced
Roiva syncs the following data types from Slack to populate your initiative metrics.

How to connect
You sign in to Roiva first, then approve Roiva in Slack and pick the channel in Roiva. No workspace yet? Take the free assessment.
You connect Slack from inside Roiva, so you need a Roiva workspace first. Sign in to connect it now. New to Roiva? Take the free assessment and create your workspace at the end, or request an invite.
- In Slack: Create a dedicated channel for Roiva notifications (e.g. #ai-initiatives) if you do not have one. You pick the channel in Roiva, so it can exist already or be made afterwards
- In Roiva: Click Continue to Authorize — you will be redirected to Slack to authorize
- In Slack: Select the workspace and approve Roiva. Slack does not ask which channel: Roiva asks that, so you can change it later without authorizing again
- Back in Roiva: On the connection page, under Channel, click Find channels and pick the one to post to. Every public channel is offered; a private one appears once you type /invite @Roiva in it
- Back in Roiva: The connection page checks that Slack takes Roiva's posts and which notifications are on, without posting anything. Send Test Message, in the connection's menu, posts one you can see
What Roiva can access
Roiva asks Slack for these permissions:
- chat:write: post messages as Roiva, to the channel you pick in Roiva
- chat:write.public: post in a public channel without being added to it first, so picking a channel in Roiva takes no further step in Slack
- channels:read and groups:read: list your channels by name, and read whether one is archived. Roiva reads names and membership only — it cannot read any message, and does not ask for the scopes that would let it
- Roiva stores only what it needs to post: your workspace's name and ID, the channel you picked, and the token the install issued
Tips for capturing value
- A dedicated channel (e.g. #ai-initiatives) keeps Roiva notifications separate from general chat
- One connection posts to one channel, and a workspace can hold several — so the channel finance reads and the channel IT reads can each have their own, with their own notification types
- Stage change notifications fire immediately when an initiative moves through its lifecycle
- Value entry notifications fire when entries are submitted for review, approved, or disputed
- Note notifications fire for Decision, Blocker, and Update note types — General notes are not posted to keep noise low
- Budget notifications fire when a budget is set or revised, and when an increase goes to the Owner and is approved or rejected
Disconnecting or uninstalling
- In Roiva: Open the connection and choose Disconnect. Roiva uninstalls itself from your Slack workspace, which ends its token — unless another Roiva connection still posts to that workspace
- In Slack: Go to Settings & administration → Manage apps, find Roiva and click Remove App. Roiva's posts stop immediately
- Either way nothing on your initiatives changes: the notifications were only ever a copy of what Roiva had already recorded
