ROI → Reports holds the reports you take out of Roiva: the Portfolio Snapshot, the Board Brief and the Value Evidence Register. One initiative's review is on the initiative's own page. Anyone in the account can download them, on every plan, Free included.

Portfolio Snapshot

Total value, total cost, ROI and a per-initiative breakdown, the same figures the ROI Overview tab shows. Choose Download Excel, Download PDF or Download PowerPoint.

It covers the reporting period picked at the top of the page (1 year, 3 years, 5 years or All time), so pick that first.

Board Brief

One closed fiscal quarter against the one before it, as two pages of PDF for the board pack or as slides with editable tables and charts for the board deck. It ignores the reporting period at the top of the page.

  1. Pick the quarter from the list on the Board Brief card. It offers the last eight quarters that have ended.
  2. Choose Download PDF or Download PowerPoint.

The brief shows:

  • The quarter and the one before it: approved value, total cost and net value, with to-date figures beside them. To date means everything through the end of that quarter, not through the day you downloaded it, so a brief for an earlier quarter doesn't change when you download it again later.
  • The initiatives behind it: the five that moved the quarter most, whether up or down, and the rest rolled into one line so the totals still add up.
  • How much of the value is an estimate: the approved value in the quarter that was recorded as estimated.
  • How much of your AI spend is measured: what your connected providers billed in the quarter, and how much of it is attached to no initiative. A connection set aside as Not for an Initiative still counts as unattributed here. See Linking connections to initiatives.
  • Whether the numbers can still move: how many of the quarter's months have a locked accounting period.

A quarter with no approved value, no cost and no initiatives taking part is refused with a message, because there is nothing to report.

Which months a quarter covers

Quarters follow your fiscal year. An Owner or Admin sets it under Organization Settings → General, in Fiscal year starts in, then chooses Save Changes. Leave it on January if your fiscal year is the calendar year. With any other start month, quarters are labeled "Fiscal Q1", "Fiscal Q2" and so on, and the list shows the months each one covers.

Value Evidence Register

An Excel file with one row for every approved value entry in the reporting period: the formula version it was computed with, its inputs, and who approved it. It's the value appendix for an audit committee. Choose Download Excel on the Value Evidence Register card.

It's refused if the reporting period has no approved value entries, or more than 25,000 of them. Narrow the reporting period and try again.

One initiative's review

On an initiative's page, the … menu at the top has Download Review (PDF) and Download Review (PowerPoint). The review covers the initiative's whole life rather than a reporting period: planned against actual value and total cost, its baselines, the formulas computing its value and the assumptions they use, and the stage changes that got it here.

What the numbers count

  • Approved value only. Drafts and entries waiting for review aren't in any report. See Approving value and initiatives.
  • Every cost entry counts toward total cost. Costs don't need approving.
  • Sample data. The Board Brief and the Value Evidence Register always leave sample initiatives out. The Portfolio Snapshot leaves them out once your account has an approved value entry or a cost entry of its own. Before then sample data is all there is, so the snapshot includes it and says so.

Export history

Every report you download is recorded. Choose Export history at the bottom of ROI → Reports to see them. Download in a row's menu returns the file exactly as it was generated, so a report you've already shared keeps saying what its readers saw. Delete removes it.
