Welcome to Roiva
What Roiva measures, how initiatives, costs and value fit together, and where everything is in the app.
Answered from these docs only, by a model that cannot see your account. Check the pages it cites.

Roiva measures the return on your AI initiatives: what each one costs, the value it delivers, who approved the numbers, and whether it's paying back — so the call to scale, fix or cut one is made on figures your CFO will accept.
The mental model
Every AI investment is an Initiative. Each one has:
- Costs — what you spend on it: software, model tokens, cloud, consulting, your own team's time
- Budget — what it was approved to spend, set when it's approved, with actual costs counted against it
- Value entries — the money it makes or saves: hours saved, tickets deflected, deals won
- Measurement — the metrics, before-values (baselines) and readings that value formulas turn into value entries
Net value is approved value minus total cost, and ROI is net value divided by total cost. Only approved value entries count: value logged by hand waits for someone to approve it, and only some entries a value formula calculates are approved automatically (see How Roiva calculates value).
Finding your way around
The sidebar is grouped by job — the weekly loop at the top, then the work behind a number:
- Home — where the account stands
- Inbox — what is waiting on you — approvals, measurements due, setup steps
- Portfolio
- ROI — the portfolio dashboard, per-initiative figures, and the Board Brief and other reports
- Initiatives — every initiative and its own tabs
- Evidence
- Method — the chain behind each number, and the formulas, metrics and assumptions in it
- Entries — cost entries, value entries and metric entries: what was recorded
- Integrations — the systems Roiva reads from, and what each one feeds
- Finance
- AI Spend — what your AI providers billed, and how much of it books to no initiative
- Budget — what each initiative was approved to spend, against what it has
- Cost Coverage — which spend is accounted for, and which the same dollar may reach twice
- Vendors — what the account spends with whom, across every initiative
- Allocations — allocation rules and accounting periods (accounts with a connection whose bills Roiva books)
Templates and assessments are not in the sidebar. Both belong to creating an initiative rather than to the weekly loop, and both are reached from New Initiative — or from search. See Assessments.
Assistant, under the sidebar, opens the Roiva Assistant, which answers questions about your account and this product and can record things for you.
Along the top: search (⌘K, or Ctrl K on Windows) finds initiatives, pages, metrics, connections, people and docs; the bell holds your notifications; and and the help menu (?) holds:
- Setup Guide — your account's checklist, ticked as each step is done
- Docs — this documentation, which opens in a new tab
- My Tickets — support tickets you have raised, and their replies
- Contact Support — raise a new one
Your name at the bottom of the sidebar opens Profile and, for Owners and Admins, Organization Settings. If you belong to more than one Roiva account, Switch Account in that menu moves between them.
Where to go next
- Setup Guide in the help menu (?) is your account's checklist: an initiative, your team (for Owners and Admins), measurement, a first cost, a first value entry and its approval, each ticked once it's done, with a button for the step.
- Read Your first initiative in 5 minutes to see a number end to end.
- Or just ask the Assistant: "How do I connect Zendesk?" works. See Using the Roiva Assistant.
- Home, search and notifications explains what's waiting for you when you sign in.
